The Theology of Politics

This started out as a venue to show how politics should be governed by theology. It is now evolving as a development of Relational Theology which challenges the centuries-old classical theologies of church fathers like Augustine, Aquinas, Calvin and even Arminius.

I am currently unlearning classical theologies which, I now believe, are a pagan aberation of Judeo-Christianity initiated by the likes of Augustine, complicated by rationalist theologians and further dogmatized by John Calvin and publicly espoused by popular speakers who claim to be Calvinists but live like Arminians. I am a very avid student of Biblical Theology and I am not a theologian by education, but I am a seasoned analyst and developer in Information Technology, a graduate of Mathematics and Actuarial Science and possess a Masters Degree in Business. So with my study discipline and objective analytical skills, I would like to prove that I can know God through common sense study of divine revelation through the Scriptures but without the distortion of Seminary [which is, ultimately, a conglomeration of others' opinions about God]. I would like to prove the fulfillment of God's promise in Jeremiah 29:13, "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.". As you read through the pages of my blogs with an open mind, I believe you would agree with me that God is fulfilling His end of that promise.

The Theology of Politics

I got the following quote from an opinion leader whom I unfortunately do not know personally, but it expresses not only the beliefs I have held for a long time as a Christian but it helps me set the tone for this blog site.

Marxism vs. Capitalism

"The basic reason for Marxism's failure is that it 'works' contrary to human nature, and actually requires a 'perfected' mankind (under Marxist theory, such [a situation] would evolve under communism. Didn't happen!) ... whereas capitalism actually takes advantage of human nature as it is -- no need for perfection.

"Hence the old saying, 'Communism would only work in heaven, where they don't need it, and in hell, where they already have it.'"
--TERRACATTA

I believe that most Christians are sincere in the way they handle politics and their vote. However, I have been disappointed with the lack of support for conservative agenda in the American political scene. Note that Socialism, Secularism and much of current Democrat Party politics seem to have very little difference, if at all, from Marxism as stated above which REALLY requires some form of legalized totalitarianism to survive. Republicans are not perfect either but there are times when we have to evaluate the lesser evil in our choices and that a responsive God will take care of the rest of our concerns.

Hence I jot down my notes with the hope that readers will become conscious about the following:
  1. Every person, especially every Christian have their own personal theology.
  2. Such theology is consciously or inadvertently expressed in their politics or the way they vote or the extent of their involvement or activism in politics.
I would therefore hope that each one would examine their theology in the light of their political choices and determine for themselves whether they are Biblical or just paying lip-service as Christians.

Here's another one:

"Under the Republican agenda (Capitalism), man exploits his fellow man.
Under the Democrat agenda (Socialism), the reverse is true!"--a paraphrase from a morning message on "Truth for Life" by Alistair Begg

The above statement may tend to oversimplify and conclude that all political inclinations are the same. To a great extent, this is true. However, a political action based on correct theology will always turn out more effective than that based on a wrong one. Recall the embarrassing bankruptcy-ridden fall of the iron curtain.

Capitalism left on its own will continue to generate revenue and true income. Communism and Socialism left on its own will generate bankruptcy and therefore necessitates some kind of totalitarian control not really to avert it but to postpone its demise.
